German Bundeswehr awards contract for 1,000 CBRN suits to J. Blaschke Wehrtechnik
The German Bundeswehr has awarded a contract for 1,000 "Zodiak-12" CBRN protective suits to the Austrian company J. Blaschke Wehrtechnik GmbH as part of a tender process.
As reported by Spartanat, the contract is a multi-year procurement project and runs until 2030, with the delivery of the protective suits occurring gradually during this period.
"The two-part protective suit is designed for use in contaminated environments and protects personnel from nuclear, biological and chemical hazards," according to Spartanat. "The jacket and pants are gas-tight and connected with each other. The suit is compatible with the NBC protective mask used by the Bundeswehr and allows the wearer to remove the protective suit without having to take off the mask."
"Made from rubber-coated fabric, the system offers protection for over 24 hours against chemical warfare agents such as mustard gas, lewisite or VX and is designed for military CBRN scenarios."
J. Blaschke Wehrtechnik GmbH is an Austrian producer of CBRN suits and equipment. The company has previously sold to armed forces and other clients in at least 28 countries, including the Austrian and German armed forces.
