Five people were decontaminated and one person was taken to hospital after an "accidental" chemical spill and spill at a university in Galloway Township, New Jersey, USA, on Tuesday 9 June.

According to EMS1, local firefighters and county officials responded to a fire at Stockton University’s Unified Science Center in Galloway Township. Three staff members and two contractors underwent decontamination after leaving the building, and one person taken to a hospital was evaluated as a precaution.

The small fire is reported to have broken out after a spill involving chlorine, bromine and hydrochloric acid in an isolated area.

The university’s police department responded to the building, while firefighters from the Pomona, Bayview and Germania fire departments in Galloway Township also responded.
