CBRNE specialists from the Kenya Defence Forces and the Tanzania People's Defence Force have trained alongside US Army soldiers during the Justified Accord 2026 exercise, attending a number of CBRNE academics sessions at the Humanitarian Peace Support School in Nairobi in March 2026.

Products from at least five companies were spotted in use during CBRN and uncrewed aerial systems training during the exercise in Kenya.

Dr Kim Williams, a radiation specialist with US Africa Command, led an academic session to strengthen shared understanding of CBRNE threat identification, response procedures and mitigation techniques, while enhancing interoperability and knowledge exchange between US and Kenyan forces.

Royal Netherlands Army Chief Warrant Officer 3, Howha May, a defence CBRN centre officer, led an academic session on radiological terrorism deployment methods. Alongside US Army Captain and CBRNE officer Fernando Rubio, he also led a forensic awareness skills session.

Furthermore, US soldiers assigned to the 272nd Chemical Company, Massachusetts Army National Guard, and CBRNE officers from the Kenya Defence Forces studied sample collection procedures. Participating forces also trained on surveillance, decontamination, investigative searches and donning protective equipment.

Separately from the CBRNE academics sessions in Nairobi, US Army explosive ordnance disposal technicians assigned to the 720th Ordnance Company, 18th Military Police Brigade and Kenya Defence Forces engineers assigned to 10th engineer battalion conducted a controlled demolition demonstration during in Laresoro, Kenya, on 11 March.

"The demonstration highlighted explosive hazard identification, safe disposal procedures and coordinated response capabilities while strengthening interoperability between US and Kenya forces participating in the multinational training exercise," according to DVIDS.
