A gas tanker overturned on a road in Romania's Sibiu County on Monday evening 23 February, leading authorities to evacuate several people from the area as a precaution and deploy a CBRN truck to conduct on-site measurements for gas leaks.

According to the Romanian publication Ora de Medias, slight gas leaks were reported and specialised crews intervened. The Romanian Inspectorate for Emergency Situations in Sibiu mobilised three firefighting trucks and two medical specialist crews.

An 800-metre safety perimeter was established around the affected area and residents within this radius were evacuated as a precaution. The Inspectorate of Emergency Situations in nearby Brașov also sent specialised robotics equipment to assist.

Separately from the above incident, just last week approximately 30 firefighters from the Sibiu Inspectorate of Emergency Situations conducted a rescue exercise involving CBRN elements.
