Mock ammonia leak drill conducted in Odisha, India
A full-scale CBRN mock drill was conducted at the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Paradeep in the state of Odisha, India.
The drill took place on 29 January with the support of the National Disaster Response Force and the Jagatsinghpur district administration, simulating ammonia leakage scenarios to review the workability of the emergency response protocols. The drill was witnessed by the assistant director of factories and boilers of the Paradeep zone.
The exercise featured successful containment strategies, including water curtains and pipeline clamping, with active participation from mutual-aid partners such as the Paradeep Port Authority, Paradeep Port Ltd. and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.
