US Air Force public affairs airmen conduct medical, CBRN training during Scorpion Lens 26
Airmen from the US Air Force's public affairs agency conducted medical and CBRN training during the Scorpion Lens 26 exercise at Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina, on 17 March.
According to information from the US Department of War's Defense Visual Information Distribution Service (DVIDS), Scorpion Lens is an "annual Air Force Public Affairs Agency exercise that prepares combat camera, audiovisual, cyber and public affairs airmen to deliver operational information warfare capabilities in support of joint operations in deployed and austere environments".
The aim is to provide "specialised visual information and communication capabilities in support of combatant commanders and Department of War priorities", DVIDS added. "Combat camera airmen are specifically trained and equipped to rapidly deploy to austere combat environments and organically advise, produce and transmit the full spectrum of public affairs capabilities."
During the exercise, airmen conducted a ruck march, documented simulated casualty care scenarios, practised donning and doffing mission-oriented protective posture equipment, administered tactical combat casualty care and medical aid, conducted decontamination, and trained to respond and coordinate responses to unexploded ordnance threats.
