14.5kg IED recovered and neutralised in Indian-administered Kashmir
The Chinar Corps of the Indian army and the Jammu-Kashmir police have recovered and neutralised an IED weighing 14.5kg near Chitragam in the Shopian district of Indian-administered Kashmir.
In a post on X on Wednesday 8 April, the Chinar Corps wrote that the operation had "averted a major terror incident".
The IED was "packed with high explosives and fitted with a remote trigger, was surgically handled and destroyed in a controlled manner", the announcement said.
The recovery on Wednesday follows a bust of a militant hideout in February during which joint teams of police and security forces recovered a 4.5kg IED, a smaller IED, two Chinese grenades, a 9mm pistol with two rounds, 22 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and a black bag.
