German government provides 20 CBRN decontamination, reconnaissance vehicles to three state authorities
The German federal government has announced that they are providing 20 vehicles for CBRN hazard response and decontamination to authorities in the states of Bavaria, Baden-Würrtemberg and Rheinland-Pfalz.
The official handover took place at the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Relief in Bonn, where the German interior minister, Alexander Dobrindt, discussed priority measures regarding the expenditure of budget funds from 2025 to 2029 with the agency's management. This was followed by a joint vehicle handover at the BBK's equipment depot in Bonn-Dransdorf.
The 20 vehicles will be sent to volunteer emergency responders from aid organisations and fire departments at twenty locations in the states of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria and Rhineland-Palatinate. The vehicles are part of the federal government's supplementary equipment for disaster relief for civil defence emergencies.
The German federal government plans to allocate around 350 additional vehicles to the states this year, and many more will follow in the coming years.
