Firefighters from the Coesfeld district in Germany recently took part in a CBRN Basic Course training session focusing on operational scenarios involving radioactive materials, during which they used NuviaTech instruments.

In a post on LinkedIn, NuviaTech said that participants used their simulation devices to practise working with radiation detection instruments, locating radiation sources and identifying radiological contamination .

Their dose rate meter, DolMo-SIM, which responds to radio signals, and their contamination monitor, CoMo SIM, which responds to magnetic fields, enabled "highly immersive training without the need for actual radioactive substances", NuviaTech said.

"This training is part of the broader CBRN Basic Course, through which firefighters develop essential skills for responding to chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear hazards," the company added.

NuviaTech has established a collaboration with the British CBRNE and hazardous materials simulation solutions provider, Argon Electronics, both for their CoMo-170 contamination monitor and DolMo dose rate monitor.
