Philippines National Bureau of Investigation establishes specialised CBRNE investigation unit
The Philippines' National Bureau of Investigation has established a specialised unit to address emerging CBRNE and national security threats, it has been announced.
The unit will handle investigations involving hazardous materials and explosives, as well as activities linked to foreign malign influence such as disinformation, cyber manipulation and covert interference operations.
It will work in coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine National Police, the Department of Health, the Department of Information and Communications Technology and international partners such as Interpol
NBI Director Atty. Melvin Matibag said the initiative "strengthens our capability to detect, investigate and respond to threats that go beyond conventional crime. The NBI remains steadfast in protecting the Filipino people and upholding the integrity of our institutions."
