UI Helicopter unveils drone-based reconnaissance, radiation detection system in Busan
The Korean company UI Helicopter has unveiled specialised, drone-based reconnaissance and radiation detection technology at the 2026 Disaster and Nuclear/WMD Response Conference in Busan, South Korea.
According to Channel A, the showcased items included a CBRN response system equipped with radiation detection equipment on small drones and an unmanned patient evacuation system using medium-sized electric vertical take-off and landing.
"The advantage of the drone-based radiation detection system is that it enables a rapid response to CBRN threats in military operational environments and minimises casualties by remotely reconnoitering dangerous areas," wrote Channel A. "The electric vertical take-off and landing-based MEDEVAC system is being developed to rapidly evacuate casualties from combat zones."
"UAV-based CBRN response and MEDEVAC systems will become essential elements in future battlefield environments," said Lim Seong-eun, CEO of UI Helicopter. "Taking this conference as an opportunity, we plan to actively verify the feasibility of military application and pursue commercialisation both domestically and internationally."
